Which course, which test

Three courses, three ways of assessing you

Oxford and Cambridge don't offer the same course, and they assess applicants in different ways. This is how it works for students who applied in October 2026, for entry in 2027.

How we help

Support for every part of the application

Interview practice

Oxford and Cambridge interviews are conversations about your subject. A tutor runs a mock interview with you, gives you honest feedback, and helps you think out loud about something new. Book one session or several, by the hour.

Written work

We help you choose which pieces to send, and you practise talking about them, so you're ready if they come up at interview. Your written work must be your own, so we won't write or edit it for you.

Cambridge college assessments

Practise writing under time pressure, so a short assessment on the day doesn't throw you.

The TARA (Human Sciences)

For next year's Oxford applicants. See our TARA page for how the test works and our TARA tutors.

Choosing a course

Not sure whether HSPS, Human Sciences, PPE or Psychology suits you best? A tutor can talk you through how the courses differ.

Hi, I'm Adaya! I'm a finalist at the University of Cambridge, where I study Human, Social and Political Sciences at Girton College, specialising in Social Anthropology and Politics. My essays have consistently been awarded First or high 2:1 grades, I was a finalist in the New College Essay Competition in 2023, and I hold an Academic and Drama Scholarship from my sixth form. I have five years of tutoring experience and have helped students secure places at top universities, including Oxbridge.

I've tutored for Oxbridge admissions since summer 2023, running group and individual sessions for both international and UK students — knowledge building, personal statements, mock interviews and admissions test practice across HSPS, Politics and History, PBS, Land Economy and PPE. Many of my students have gone on to receive interviews following personal statement and admissions test support, and I've had students receive offers after interview preparation. I also run structured summer school programmes for Oxbridge applicants, and I tutor A-Level and GCSE Politics, History, English Literature, Sociology, Religious Studies, Drama and Psychology. I believe every student learns differently, so I always tailor my sessions to your style and goals — my approach is warm, patient and encouraging, and I want every student to feel genuinely supported rather than overwhelmed.

Questions

HSPS and Human Sciences FAQs

Is HSPS the same as Oxford's Human Sciences?

No. HSPS focuses on politics, international relations, sociology and social anthropology. Human Sciences studies people from both biological and social points of view. At Oxford, politics is part of PPE or History and Politics.

Is there a test for HSPS?

Not one you register for. Some Cambridge colleges set a written assessment if they invite you to interview. The college gives you the details.

Can a tutor write or edit my written work?

No. Your written work must be your own. A tutor can help you choose which pieces to send and practise talking about them.

How many mock interviews should I book?

We suggest a series of sessions with one tutor, as many as you need, to build your technique. A tutor who knows you can see what you're improving on and take each session further than the last.

Then book one or two sessions with tutors you haven't met. On the day, you'll be interviewed by people you've never spoken to, who ask questions in their own way. Practising with someone new shows you whether your technique holds up when the style and the questions are unfamiliar.

Ready to strengthen your HSPS or Human Sciences application?

Tell us a little about the course and where you'd like support — interview, written work or choosing a course — and we'll get back to you about a tutor who fits. No packages, no obligation.
