Find a Law tutorWhich course, which test
Three courses, one test: the LNAT
Both universities use the LNAT for Law, and neither asks for particular A-level subjects. This is how it works for students who applied in October 2026, for entry in 2027.

How we help
Support for every part of the application
Interview practice
Law interviews usually start with a short legal text or scenario to read and discuss. A tutor runs a mock interview with you, argues back, and gives you honest feedback.
The LNAT
For next year's applicants. See our LNAT page for how the test works and our LNAT tutors.
Written work (Cambridge)
If your college asks for written work, we help you choose the pieces and practise talking about them. Your work must be your own, so we won't write or edit it for you.

Jay
I'm a First Class graduate in BA Jurisprudence from St Catherine's College, Oxford, with Firsts in six of my nine papers — Administrative, Jurisprudence, Commercial, Copyright, Land and Trusts. My college awarded me the Ward-Taylor Prize for outstanding academic performance and a College Exhibition, alongside book prizes in Land and Commercial Law. I scored 28 on the LNAT with a First Class essay, and I tutor the whole Law application from start to finish.

I've been tutoring Oxbridge Law admissions for over a year, working closely with more than ten students and with over twenty in total including one-off advisory and interview sessions. I cover personal statements, super-curriculars, entrance tests and interviews — the entire process. Students I've worked with have gone on to places at Oxford, including Merton College and Christ Church in the 2026 cycle, and at the University of Pennsylvania. My teaching emulates the Oxbridge tutorial and supervision system, building confidence, writing and genuine curiosity, and every session trains transferable skills across several admissions components. With thorough feedback, you'll always know exactly what to work on next.

Liza
Hi, I'm Liza (pronounced Lee-zah). I have just graduated from Murray Edwards College, Cambridge where I loved reading law and am excited to maximise your chance to do the same! I also did a year studying abroad in the Netherlands as part of my degree. I was Speakers Secretary for the Cambridge University Law Society and now have a training contract lined up at a Big Law firm. During my A levels I achieved A*A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths, English Literature and History respectively. I'm passionate about moulding students' unique interests into an impressive and convincing narrative for Oxbridge admissions.

I have carried out practice interviews across two application cycles for Law at Oxbridge. I generally run 40 minutes of a mock interview using material from my law degree. I will send this in advance for you to read, as in a real Oxbridge interview. I will then question you on it. This can include academic legal commentary, statutes, problem questions, and hypothetical scenarios. I will then continue on to 20 minutes of feedback on how to restructure your answers and what the admissions tutors were actually looking for. I can also recommend super-curricular activities and find specific readings based on your interests to impress admissions tutors in your personal statement, and support you through the writing and editing process. I am also passionate about teaching law and can run sessions on niche legal areas of your interest from my degree so you feel genuinely comfortable discussing the law you mentioned in your personal statement at interview. I can also assist talking strategy on choosing between Oxford and Cambridge.

Theodore
Hi, I'm Theodore! I recently graduated in Law from St John's College, Cambridge, where I kept a strong academic record and received a number of awards for my results. Before university I achieved 11 grade 9s at GCSE and A*A*A at A-Level in English Literature, Mathematics and Latin, with an A* in my EPQ. I scored 31 in the LNAT.

I've mentored students aiming to study Law at Oxbridge, and students working towards top GCSE and A-Level results. I've also taught on summer school programmes at Cambridge, giving Cambridge-style supervisions and academic sessions to a range of students, including visiting students from Hong Kong and students from disadvantaged backgrounds through the university's work with The Sutton Trust. I've represented my college, faculty and the university at many events, helping prospective students learn about university life and the admissions process. I went through the Oxbridge application process without much guidance myself, so I know how daunting it can feel. My teaching focuses on breaking down challenging concepts, developing analytical skills and encouraging students to think independently, rather than simply memorising information.

Vybhavi
Hi! I'm Vybhavi, a Law student at Somerville College, Oxford, with several years of tutoring and mentoring experience. Having gone through the Oxford admissions process fairly recently myself, I know how overwhelming it can seem, and I really enjoy making it feel more manageable and helping students become confident in their own abilities. I achieved 33/42 in the LNAT and now tutor students in LNAT preparation, personal statements and university interview practice.

Over the past year I've supported students through several stages of the admissions process, particularly those applying for Law and to competitive universities. My admissions tutoring covers LNAT preparation, personal statement support, super-curricular development and interview preparation. For the LNAT I work on both multiple-choice technique and essay writing, drawing on my own experience of achieving 33/42. I've also worked as an English mentor, taught English in Japan, and delivered debating and public-speaking workshops to over 350 students. My lessons are friendly and tailored to the individual — I focus on helping students understand how to approach difficult questions rather than simply giving them model answers.

Dorothea
I'm a recent Law graduate from Oxford with a real passion for helping applicants reach their potential. I scored 28 in the LNAT multiple-choice section, and I've guided students through every part of the law application — multiple-choice strategy and essay technique, personal statements, and Oxford-style mock interviews. One of my mentees went on to receive an offer to read Law at Oxford.

I've delivered tailored LNAT preparation to several students — including here on MyOxbridgeTutor — giving detailed feedback on practice essays and multiple-choice strategy, and run tutorial-style sessions on jurisprudence, constitutional and criminal law. Through access and outreach work I've supported many state-school and underrepresented applicants, and I'm experienced at breaking down technical legal ideas into something clear and approachable. I also tutor GCSE History, Maths and English.

I've tutored students of all ages and backgrounds in English and Maths, including students with special educational needs and those learning English as a second language. Several of my previous students have been neurodivergent — ADHD and autism — and I adapt my teaching to suit how each student learns best. Alongside the LNAT, I help with Oxford Law interview preparation and personal statement writing.

Questions
Law admissions FAQs
Do I need A-level Law?
No. Neither university requires any particular subjects for Law.
What is the LNAT?
A test of reading and reasoning. It has 42 multiple-choice questions on 12 passages (95 minutes), then one essay from a choice of three (40 minutes).
What happens in a law interview?
You're usually given a short legal text or scenario to read, then asked to discuss it. You don't need to know any law beyond what's in front of you.
Tutors may argue back, which doesn't mean you're wrong. They want to see you defend a view, and explain why new information changes it.
How many mock interviews should I book?
We suggest a series of sessions with one tutor, as many as you need, to build your technique. A tutor who knows you can see what you're improving on and take each session further than the last.
Then book one or two sessions with tutors you haven't met. On the day, you'll be interviewed by people you've never spoken to, who ask questions in their own way. Practising with someone new shows you whether your technique holds up when the style and the questions are unfamiliar.
Ready to strengthen your Law application?
Tell us a little about the course and where you'd like support — interview, the LNAT or choosing a course — and we'll get back to you about a tutor who fits. No packages, no obligation.
